Preheat

Preheating is a critical preliminary step in glass processing for controlling thermal stress and process stability. By gradually raising the temperature to bring molds or materials into the target range, it prevents deformation, cracking, or performance degradation caused by sudden heating.

Seal

The glass sealing process specifically refers to the use of high temperature or specific technology to achieve permanent bonding between glass and glass, ensuring sealing, optical consistency and structural strength. It is widely used in the manufacture of optical lens groups, vacuum tubes, laboratory vessels and microfluidic chips.

Materials

Fused borosilicate glass is a tough, heat-resistant glass widely used for making pressed lamp shades. Its key advantage is a very low thermal expansion coefficient. This means it expands and contracts much less than regular glass when heated or cooled. Consequently, it withstands sudden temperature changes extremely well – crucial when a hot bulb turns on or off inside a shade. It’s also highly resistant to chemicals, durable, and remains transparent over time. These properties make it a reliable and safe choice, especially for demanding industrial or high-heat lighting applications where ordinary glass might crack.

Fused borosilicate glass excels in pressed lamp shades due to its key strengths:

Superior Heat Resistance: It handles the high heat of light bulbs without cracking or warping, even during sudden temperature changes when turning lights on/off. Ordinary glass risks thermal shock failure.

Exceptional Durability: It’s much harder and more resistant to scratches, impacts, and chemicals than regular soda-lime glass. This makes shades tougher during handling, cleaning, and use.

Stability During Pressing: Its specific viscosity and thermal properties allow it to be pressed into complex, detailed shapes more effectively and hold those shapes precisely as it cools without distorting.

Long-Term Clarity & Safety: It resists clouding or weathering over time and maintains its transparency. Crucially, its strength and thermal resistance minimize the risk of dangerous breakage near hot bulbs.
